Job Profile Summary

Design Delivery is a multidisciplinary technical function charged with the creation, development and improvement of Equinix's datacenter designs, which includes: the architectural and space planning, electrical, mechanical and controls features; while having direct interaction with the departments responsible for security design, network and cross-connect design.

Personnel under the Design Delivery Center of Excellence have a global responsibility for concept designs, design development and application of standards. The regionally focused personnel lead the design work in-region (while adhering to global standards) to develop designs for construction level drawings to external consultants, while meeting the delivery schedule and capacity dictated by the business.

This role will have an initial primary focus on the delivery of Equinix's Hertfordshire Campus project, supporting a multi-phase campus development while ensuring alignment with global design standards and long-term operational requirements.


Knowledge & Application


Participates with senior management to establish strategic plans and objectives, including those related to the Hertfordshire Campus development. Makes final decisions on implementation and ensures operational effectiveness. Effectively cascades functional strategy and contributes to development of organizational policies. Accountable for actions that impact function or multiple department budgets.


Complexity & Problem Solving


Works on complex issues where problems are not clearly defined and where fundamental principles do not fully apply. Translates business segment strategy into functional plans and guides execution. Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people. Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements, particularly in the context of large, phased campus developments such as Hertfordshire.


Discretion & Impact


Contributes to development of strategies of a function or multi departments. Erroneous decisions will have a critical long-term (typically up to five years) impact on the overall success of the function or multi departments.


Collaboration and Interaction


Interacts with senior management, executives, and/or major customers which frequently involves negotiating matters of significance to the organization. Reconciles multiple stakeholder views to drive business results, including coordination across Real Estate, Construction, and Operations teams supporting the Hertfordshire Campus.


Management & Supervision


Directs the activities of a functional area or multiple integrated departments through lower management. Leads team(s) to develop new methods and solve complex matters.

Job Profile Summary


The Director, Design Delivery leads a team of multi-disciplinary engineers and architects and is responsible for a portfolio of datacenter projects within a sub-region or global sub-function. The role's initial primary focus will be the Hertfordshire Campus project.

These projects can include: new construction, phased expansion, retrofits and upgrades, acquisition conversions, and mechanical and electrical equipment selections. They are an industry-recognized leader on datacenter design and an experienced team leader.

The Director, Design critically assesses design decisions across disciplines and applies required Equinix standards and country-specific regulations to make the best design choices for their assigned projects. They manage and provide guidance to more junior staff on the relationship and output of key design partners and equipment suppliers and lead the relationship management with such partners.
